Artist statement

I firmly believe in the idea that people are always looking for connection, we all want to be understood;
I know I certainly did.
This is what pushed me into art as a child. I think of stories told to me in childhood, Fables and fairytales
boiling down human connection to fantasy and animals. It was clear, simple.
These stories helped me create an understanding of the world, and art is how I processed it.
Through these inspirations, I seek to create my own visual language to portray my experiences and share them,
playing with per-conceived notions to produce new understandings.
I create because I find it is the only way to come to an understanding of myself and the world, make clarity of mess.
We constantly seek to understand each other even though we never truly will;
it's beautiful we try.
On essaie constamment de se comprendre en temps qu'humain,
même si on n'en sera probablement jamais vraiment capable.
Je pense que c'est magnifique qu’on essaye quand même.

The Shepherd dog - 2025

The Shepherd dog - 2025

This work was completed for a class at Concordia University. It was conceptualized and created A-Z within 3 months while balancing 4 other courses and a part time job. It's a labour of love and many sleepless nights.The Shepherd dog is a short graphic novel following a great Pyrenees dog named Lady. The story focuses on Lady adapting to her shepherd role and making friends with a wolf, which causes conflict with her older shepherd mentor Scotch. The story touches on themes of loneliness, grief and acceptance.It is a mixed media project, with traditionally drawn storyboard and ink line art, digitally coloured.
The story is straight forward, but it served as an outlet for my own sense of isolation and hope of a brighter future while battling depression.
The story ends with a message of “life goes on” with the acknowledgement that the things we have been through affect the way we move forward.
